34. Sleepwalking

She fell in love with her immediately, that lanky auburn haired girl in the sweatsuit who glared at her with an icy stare. She knew straightaway that somewhere in the universe, stars were aligning and dreams alighting just for her. A pindrop smiled upon her discovery. She went home, fed her pony with Christmas tree ornaments and listened to it tell her a pink story about a place where nobody ever cries. When she entered the dream she saw him: he looked perfect in relation to the sea and the sky, he looked perfectly in place. He pretended not to know her then, and suddenly she couldnt remember if they'd ever met.
When she woke up, his name was on her lips and her cheeks were wet with tears. For a terrifying moment where the earth erupted and clouds crashed she thought that he was never there. But he was, and when she opened her eyes and saw him lying beside her she felt safe again, his closed eyes and gentle breathing like a lullaby on her skin.
A beeping bird told her she was late for something again, and reprimanded her for she had no control over her life - and in a lucid moment when she stepped outside of her fuzzy self to get a better view - she saw herself from a distance, and in a terrifyingly lucid moment she realized that she was nowhere she wanted to be - She did not want to be this person, in this time, in this place.
