1. problem : there is a schism between the two. and a general uneasiness with mixing with one another - both the respondents echoed the same. reason : unapproachable communication.
there are stereotypes within the group itself.
there is an uneasiness in using the language, but admittance that it does help, it is an advantage, highly useful. they do feel advantaged by it compared to their peers. but they wouldnt use it cos ppl will say they are 'showing off', or will make it harder to communicate.
2. but, they count themselves in unity with other malaysians for the same : they are malaysians because of the ability to communicate with almost anyone, to adapt to almost any language according to the people they talk to. a skill and a strength.
--> the language causes internal schisms, but is a powerful tool for extensive communications.
--> it is one effective tool to have in their repertoire. it doesnt master them, they master it.
